So, those of you who know me have probably heard me say that Floridians are crazy. This was not disproven when I arrived in Florida two weeks ago at around 4pm, hit the roads in my rental car and saw this:
As it happened, I got in on July 4th and that meant that a carnival was right across the street from my hotel:
When I got into the hotel, I asked the chick at the desk where I might catch some grub & fireworks. Food was easy. She told me of a place called "Flipper's" which was right across the way. They didn't have a dolphin pizza, but I'd have to say that it's probably the third best new york style pizza I've ever had the pleasure of consuming. It didn't hurt that the waitress was cute & personable -- she might have liked my accent. We talked for a bit whenever she found the time to come over.
As for fireworks, it turns out that Disney has their own little city out by Orlando called "Celebration". It's a little creepy -- the look of the place is obviously pretty controlled by HOAs. Anyway, they had a lovely fireworks show. Good way to end the day. A bit of time to sleep and then I had a trip to Walt Disney World for the following day.
