The strangest things happen to me when I'm reading William Gibson.
15:49 < hongwareeomg> hi
16:18 <@testing4l> Hi!
16:18 < hongwareeomg> Yay someone to talk to :-) !! how are u? I found your name in the yahoo online members search :)
16:18 <@testing4l> I wasn't sure if you were someone I knew or not.
16:19 < hongwareeomg> my roomates just stepped out I only have a little while alone... ;-) are u alone too? we should cam2cam ;)
16:19 <@testing4l> I'm pretty sure you're not my type.
I still have my AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, and MSN accounts online and bitlbee dutifully watches them for me, but I quickly forget about them. It's like a society which used to be alive, fun, and vibrant, but it's gone dead. Out of a sense of obligation to those times, I sit on the other end of the radio and wait.
Sometimes, there's a scream from the darkness.

Lately, every once in awhile, I get a random IM from someone I don't know going "hi" or "are you there" or whatever.
I ignored them all, but then I realized one such source was repeated 3 times. The next time he contacted me, I asked if I knew him/her and he/she started rambling about random stuff. I think this is some weird sort of spambot that I don't understand the motivations for at all, but I just ignore them all now.
It's almost certainly a spambot. Still, I can't quite let go of the romance of holding open a link to a dead world.
might want to talk to me. 8)
