A friend of mine posted this on Facebook:
The vintage fashion expo is this weekend! Does anyone want to go with me?
I responded back with:
I do not believe the vintage fashion expo is compatible with my weekend as I will be covered in various forms of grease, oil, and dirt.
This is odd considering how much more prevalent grease, oil, and dirt were in the era which "vintage" clothing claims to be inspired by.
I believe that adequately describes my general contempt towards anything claiming to be vintage or a populist reenactment.
In summary, it is possible that I am a curmudgeon.

You are such a curmudgeon! :P
The clothes there are from the 1930's-1970's. Does that not comprise your definition of vintage?

yeah i was gonna say. the vintage expo isn't about clothing *inspired by that period*, but surviving clothing from the period for sale and trade. it's p awesome and always holds a ton of really strange finds.
