This Washington-Pittsburgh series is probably the most entertaining series I've ever seen. I'm mildly leaning towards Pittsburgh as the better team, but there is no quit or lack of talent in either of these teams. There was a lot made of the Ovechkin-Crosby matchup. I thought it was going to be way overhyped, but both of them have played spectacularly.
This game, in particular, has been among the best games I've ever seen. Pittsburgh started with the lead, and the lead has changed hands each time until the tying goal by the Penguins. There's two minutes left in the third, a slashing penalty was just called on Washington and it's going to end on a power play.
Wow. Just *wow*.
This is why I make damn sure to watch the NHL playoffs. You just can't beat this with a stick.
EDIT: And now it's in OT at 4 apiece. The pressure was intense on that last powerplay and Washington got a really good shorthanded chance at it. Varlamov's been awesome. Fleury almost always seems like he's in the wrong place, but somehow he's done what he needs to.
EDIT^2: It's all over -- Washington won on a redirected wrist shot which means that this series is going to a game 7. I'd like to see Pittsburgh advance, but I'm glad it's going to another game. 8)
Hockey is the only sport I watch/care about.
Especially in the playoffs. It practically takes an act of Congress to keep me away from a TV during a playoff game.
Or a ticket to the actual game itself, of course. ^__^
Glad the playoffs are going well- still have to check out that sports bar here- maybe tomorrow night. And at least I've discovered one other hockey nut in this town- good to talk to.
If you hurry (and stay up late...), the two games tonight are game 7s -- Boston vs. Carolina and Anaheim vs. Detroit. The Boston one's on earlier and I expect it'll be the better game.
No can do. It's cold and windy out, they've canceled tram service going out to Jerozolimskie (maintenance work or something) and the bar closes at 12. Will have to check online for results tomorrow.
