In 6 hours or so, we'll be on a plane, headed for Boston. We'll be between there and Rhode Island. We'll have a rental car and I'm looking forward to driving on the East coast -- even if it will be in a crappy rental car. This makes extremely fluid on-the-fly plans a real possibility.
The nice part about being unemployed is that my time is my own and the idea of driving massive distances is utterly aligned with my idea of a good time. So, if there's anyone who'll be free, lives in (or is willing to hang out in) <=4 hours worth of driving, and wants to hang out, drop a comment and we'll see what we can work out. 8)
(psst: forgotten_aria and sakiroa, I'm looking at you. 8) )

Wait, wait, wait. How long are you going to be in Boston?! I'm going to be there from the 30th to October 6th! Whaaat!
That's utterly ridiculous!
We were planning on being there a week. Then we were planning on just shy of a week because of my job. Then I got fired, so we're up to possibly longer than a week. We just might be in the wrong state together! Crazy! Wild!

Okay we've finalized our plans and will TOTALLY be there at the same time. We're actually gonna be in New York on the 30th (assuming plans go, er, as planned), but will be back that evening and kicking around in Kingston, RI until departure on Tuesday. We should totally hang out on the wrong coast. 8)
Sure! that sounds grand. we shoudl try to pick a date, though I could meet you for lunhc almost any day.

told me to comment to exchange contact info with you (since he is presently unavailable), but since I can't screen comments for privacy in his livejournal, I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to be doing here. 8) I guess you should contact one of us using the info in our profiles and we can exchange numbers!
I tried to IM you, but seem to have failed. Then I lame dout and forgot. I hope is' not too late.
It totally isn't. We're staying until Tuesday and being lame about planning. 8)
There's a couple of alternatives. We're having lunch with a bunch of people on Saturday in Boston. Otherwise we could catch you on Tuesday for lunch before we leave town.
Otherwise, we can make other plans 8)
Sadly I'm busy 12-3 on Saturday.
Is Tuesday still a possibility?
Hey look! It's Tuesday! 8)
We're going to be at South Station at around 12:30. Our flight's at like 4:30, so we have a nice, big span of time to hang out in 8) I'll give you a call when we're on the train.

Uh pretend there is a question mark in there, where it's supposed to be.
Dude! Stony Brook is 177 miles from Boston! Come check out my new place, eh?
Our (very loose) plans at present are to zip down to Manhattan Saturday evening. From there, we're hoping that there's a transit option to Stony Brook -- we plan to be carless at that point.

Less vague update: I have notes here on a train that'll get us to Penn Station around 11:00pm on Saturday. My mom has recommended a place that we could stay in Manhatten, and then we have most of Sunday to hang out with you (by either going to you, or you coming to us), and a train out at 8:00pm. How's that sound? :)

Actually, this would be more like Sunday/Monday, as our Saturday schedule has shifted a bit.
