The Schlock Mercenary store reopened today for pre-orders of the second book. Although relsqui and I are depriving ourselves of virtually every luxury to save up money for the Shuttle's repairs, we made an exception and purchased a sketch edition. From what's been reported in Howard Tayler's livejournal, he needs about 130 more orders to break even. That's within 8 hours of it reopening and people are still ordering by all appearances.

Travian's been sucking up my life of late. The strategy involved is keeping my brain occupied which is nice.

I've finally gotten around to playing Hero's Quest (now -- and since the first run of the first game in the series -- Quest for Glory) through. I'm in the middle of the second one. I've been playing a thief and being as much of a multiclass as possible. I won't be able to become a paladin, but I'll settle for passing the test to become an initiate of the Wizards' Institute of Technocery and thieving bastard. I'm going to have to play from 2 on again as a fighter to become a paladin, I think. =/

My wrists, arms, and shoulders have been troubling me of late, so I'm trying to stay off of them.

North Korea looks like it's going to go for a second test. It makes me wonder what they're up to. The history of the country hasn't been aimed at making a name for themselves, but at playing the other countries around them against each other. I can't help but wonder if this isn't really a bid to cause havoc on the international stage more than anything else.

I always play a thief through the first two games too. It really upset me during my last run through the games I couldn't complete the game the thief's way 'cause I dropped the magic rope (like a dope), despite technically being a thief. Somehow the game knew to switch right over to the wizard's scenario at that point, winning the game that way -- which meant no harem scene! Noooo!

Ever since I noticed that you could (without benefit of razzle dazzle root beer) get stats in all the categories, and therefore, achieve 100s in all stats, it was settled for me 8)

I gotta say though: Dinarzad is even hotter than I remember.

Don't quote me on this, but I think you can do that anyway once you've applied your starting points from the second game to your sheet. You're still left without a few in the first game, though. Also, I'm not sure if you can go through WIT as a fighter no matter what your magic skill is, and I KNOW you can't do any of the thief's things. But you do get an extra little sidequest specifically for fighters, and it's a lot easier to become a paladin (as a thief, if you do either of the thief's extra missions you're instantly disqualified. Not that it matters much since you can just import as a paladin in 3 anyway for some reason.)

You know, this last time, I played through it, levitated over the wall, and had the harem scene as a thief. Maybe you somehow ignored that chick who's trying to leave the city?

Also -- X-Ray glasses rock 8)
